Village Fair Celebrates 70 Years
The 70th Annual Village Fair Music Festival takes over The Ballpark at League City on Friday and Saturday with two days of live music, food, vendors and family activities.
The festival opens Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. and continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
This year's lineup includes a mix of country, rock and classic hits, with performers including Easton Corbin, Bag of Donuts, Scotty Alexander, Night Bird: Fleetwood Mac, Big Jordan, A-Sure Thing, the League City Folk Association, Rock N Classic, School of Rock and DJ Dash Gordon.
The City of League City is sponsoring the festival, which serves as a fundraiser for the League City Lions Club. Proceeds support the club's charitable work in League City and beyond.
Gate admission is $15 for adults ages 18 and older and $7.50 for children ages 2 through 17. Toddlers and babies are admitted free.
Baby Con Returns Saturday
Families with babies and toddlers have another local option Saturday morning when Helen Hall Library hosts its second annual Baby Con from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is geared toward families with children from birth through age 3 and is designed to connect parents and caregivers with information, activities and resources focused on the early childhood years.
Baby Con is free and will be held at Helen Hall Library, 100 W. Walker Street.
Shakespeare in the Park Moved to November 7
Residents who had planned to attend Shakespeare in the Park on Saturday night should update their calendars.
Because of the high likelihood of inclement weather this weekend, the City announced that Clear Creek Community Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at League Park.
The outdoor performance remains free and is part of League City's Public Art Initiative. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and coolers.
October Is Just Getting Started
This weekend kicks off a particularly active month on League City's community calendar.
National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6 in participating neighborhoods, followed by the Fall Plant Swap & Shop, Harvest Festival and Astronomy in the Park on Saturday, October 10.
Later in the month, the city calendar includes a community blood drive, children's activities, a drug takeback event, Day of the Dog & Cat and Music in the Historic District.
