LEAGUE CITY, TX — Clear Springs opened district football play with a narrow victory over a familiar local opponent, defeating Clear Creek 23–21 on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Challenger Columbia Stadium.
An early lead, a narrow finish

The Wildcats continued closing the gap in the third quarter, outscoring Springs 7–3 to make it 16–14 entering the fourth. Each team added seven points in the final period, leaving the Chargers with the two-point victory.
Rubins leads the ground game
According to statistics posted on MaxPreps, senior running back Elijah Rubins rushed for 197 yards on 18 carries and scored a touchdown. His production worked out to approximately 10.9 yards per carry.
Senior receiver Parker Tramposch added three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown, contributing through the air in a game ultimately decided by a single possession.
Close games define the opening stretch
The result brought Clear Springs to 2–2 overall and left Clear Creek at 1–3 at that point in the season.
A comparison of the Chargers’ first four results shows how little separated winning and losing during their opening stretch: every game was decided by three points or fewer. Springs began with a 17–15 loss to Dobie, defeated Heights 30–27, and fell 14–13 to George Ranch before its win over Creek.
The September 18 matchup put that pattern into a local setting, with the Chargers taking a District 18-6A victory over another League City program.
