LEAGUE CITY, Texas — The regular season is over. Now the matches become win-or-go-home.

The bi-district match is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, October 30 at Phillips Field House.

Another District Title for the Chargers
Clear Springs has developed one of the most consistent volleyball programs in the Houston area.
The Chargers entered this season coming off four consecutive district championships and closed the 2026 district schedule in first place once again.
Their only district loss came in a five-set road match against Deer Park on October 8.
Clear Springs responded by winning its final four district matches, including sweeps of Clear Falls and Clear Brook and back-to-back five-set victories over Clear Lake and Barbers Hill.
That closing stretch left the Chargers at 13-1 in district play and firmly positioned them for another postseason run.
One of Houston’s Highest-Ranked 6A Teams
The success has not gone unnoticed outside League City.
VYPE placed Clear Springs at No. 4 in its final Houston-area Class 6A rankings before the playoffs.
Only Cypress Ranch, Tomball and Memorial were ranked ahead of the Chargers.
That puts Clear Springs ahead of a long list of established Houston-area programs and gives the Chargers one of the stronger profiles entering Region III postseason play.
A Season Built Against Strong Competition
The Chargers did not build their record against an easy schedule.
Clear Springs played multiple major tournaments before district competition, including the Pearland Tournament and Volleypalooza.
The Chargers finished fourth out of 68 teams at Pearland and 15th out of 68 at Volleypalooza.
Those events exposed Clear Springs to strong programs from across Texas before the district schedule began.
That experience matters now.
Tournament volleyball forces teams to play multiple matches in condensed time frames against unfamiliar opponents — conditions that can resemble the pressure and quick adjustments required in playoff competition.
Plenty of Experience Returns to the Court
Clear Springs entered 2026 with several experienced players returning from last year’s team.
Senior outside hitter Caylee Young entered the season as the defending district MVP, while setters Mady Powell and Karmen O’Quinn provided experience running the offense.
Junior outside hitter Olivia Barnett has been one of the Chargers’ offensive threats throughout the season.
In the middle, junior Gavin Cramer has been a significant presence at the net, while junior defensive specialist Aubree Svoboda has contributed in the back row.
That combination gives Clear Springs multiple ways to win points rather than depending on a single player.
North Shore Comes In at 16-15
North Shore enters Friday’s match with a 16-15 overall record after finishing 6-8 in district competition.
The Mustangs finished fourth in their district to earn the playoff berth.
On paper, the records make Clear Springs the favorite.
But playoff volleyball has a way of making regular-season records less important.
A slow start, extended scoring run or difficult serving rotation can change a best-of-five match quickly.
For Clear Springs, the challenge will be avoiding the temptation to look beyond the first round.
A Different Postseason Format
The Chargers will compete in the Class 6A Division I bracket.
Friday’s match is part of the Region III bi-district round, which includes several of the Houston area’s strongest programs.
Other Region III Division I matchups include Summer Creek against Dickinson, Memorial against Pearland and Dawson against Bellaire.
The path becomes increasingly difficult with each round.
That makes getting through Friday cleanly the only objective that matters right now.
Recent History Sets a High Standard
Clear Springs is no stranger to postseason volleyball.
The program has consistently qualified for the playoffs and has established itself as one of the more recognizable volleyball programs in Clear Creek ISD.
Last season, the Chargers finished 35-11 before their playoff run ended against Dawson.
This year’s group enters postseason play with a similar overall win total and another district championship.
The question now is how far this version of the Chargers can go.
Friday Starts the Next Chapter
For most of the season, teams have opportunities to recover from a difficult night.
That changes Friday.
A win sends Clear Springs into the next round.
A loss ends the season.
After 43 matches, multiple tournaments and 14 district contests, everything now comes down to the postseason.
Clear Springs and North Shore meet at 5 p.m. Friday at Phillips Field House.
Talk of League City will follow the Chargers throughout the UIL volleyball playoffs.
