Clear Creek ISD marked 10 years of its Athletic Hall of Honor on Sept. 19, 2026, by inducting two coaches, seven former student-athletes and three historic teams.

The reception and ceremony at CCISD Challenger Columbia Stadium brought together alumni, district leaders, families, friends and fans to recognize achievements spanning more than four decades of district athletics.

“It is an incredible honor to celebrate 10 years of this Hall of Honor, and to be among so many who made an impact on their sport and in their communities,” Athletic Hall of Honor Board of Directors President Dede MacPherson said in the district’s announcement.

MacPherson called the three teams, two coaches and seven athletes “pioneers who paved the way for CCISD Athletics” and role models for current student-athletes.

Two coaches and seven former athletes inducted

The two coach honorees were Thomas Landgraf, who coached swimming and diving at Clear Lake High School from 1985 to 2003, and Karolyn Criado, Clear Lake’s golf coach from 2004 to 2023.

The seven former student-athletes inducted were:

  • Annette Carney Propp, Clear Lake High School, Class of 1988 — volleyball, basketball, golf and track
  • Brian Drew Williams, Clear Lake High School, Class of 1990 — basketball and track and field
  • Meredith Phillips Thompson, Clear Creek High School, Class of 1996 — volleyball, basketball and soccer
  • Deryell Patterson, Clear Brook High School, Class of 1999 — football and track and field
  • Lauren Viel, Clear Lake High School, Class of 2007 — golf
  • Brooke McCarty-Williams, Clear Springs High School, Class of 2014 — basketball
  • Landon Nicholas Etzel, Clear Creek High School, Class of 2016 — football, baseball and track and field

Three girls teams recognized

The 1964 Clear Creek High School girls basketball team entered the Hall of Honor after finishing as the UIL Class 2A state runner-up. Virginia Butler coached the team, with Marily Henson serving as assistant coach.

Two Clear Lake High School state championship teams were also honored. The 1988 girls cross-country team won the UIL Class 5A championship under coach Anid de la Garza.

The 2007 Clear Lake girls golf team won a UIL Class 5A state championship under Criado, making her both a coach honoree and the coach of an inducted team. Former golfer Lauren Viel was similarly recognized as an individual inductee and as a member of the championship team.

The district’s 2026 induction announcement includes the complete rosters for all three teams and a link to ceremony photographs.

Student musicians representing five CCISD high schools also performed the national anthem as Allium Clarinets during the ceremony.

Hall marks a decade of recognition

Founded in 2016, the CCISD Athletic Hall of Honor is a nonprofit organization led by an independent board of directors. Its annual ceremony recognizes coaches, former athletes and teams that made a lasting impact on the district’s athletic history.

The 2026 ceremony and reception were supported by alumni and community sponsors. Platinum sponsors included Joe C. McKinney; Lyssa McBride Seale; Kathleen Trcka Taylor and Hugh Taylor; Home Town Bank of League City; and The Sign Shop. Gold sponsors included Steve Rasmussen, Angie Chivers and Janis Balsamo.
