LEAGUE CITY, Texas — Clear Springs and Clear Falls entered Friday night's matchup with identical 3-3 records and plenty at stake in the District 18-6A race.

By the end of the night, the Chargers had finally found a way to win away from home.

Clear Springs defeated Clear Falls 17-13 Friday at Challenger Columbia Stadium, improving to 3-4 overall while dropping the Knights to the same 3-4 mark.

The four-point final reflected a game that remained competitive throughout and gave Clear Springs its first road victory of the 2026 season.

Clear Springs Ends Its Road Drought

The Chargers had entered the matchup still looking for their first win away from home.

Previous road trips had produced close calls and difficult losses, including a one-point defeat against George Ranch and district losses at Dickinson and Deer Park.

Friday's result finally broke that pattern.

Clear Springs held Clear Falls to 13 points and found enough offense to escape with the district win.

Senior Darrien Moore contributed on both the ground and through the air as part of the Chargers' offensive effort.

Clear Falls Had Entered With Momentum

The loss interrupted a strong stretch for the Knights.

Clear Falls had won its previous two district games in convincing fashion, defeating Clear Brook 52-21 and Clear Lake 58-21.

Those two victories produced 110 combined points and moved the Knights into Friday's matchup with significant offensive momentum.

Clear Springs prevented another high-scoring performance, limiting Clear Falls to its lowest point total since the opening portion of the season.

A Four-Point League City Battle

Friday Night Final

Clear Falls 13

District 18-6A • Challenger Columbia Stadium

The result gives Clear Springs local bragging rights in one of the district's true League City matchups.

Both schools draw their students and families from the League City community, adding another layer to a game that already carried district implications.

Both Programs Move to 3-4

Friday's outcome leaves Clear Springs and Clear Falls with identical overall records at 3-4.

The teams arrived at that mark through very different stretches.

Clear Falls had been gaining momentum after consecutive district victories.

Clear Springs had experienced multiple difficult road losses but entered the rivalry game with a district win over Clear Creek and another opportunity to break through away from home.

The Chargers capitalized.

Clear Creek Falls to Unbeaten Deer Park

Elsewhere in District 18-6A, Clear Creek faced one of the league's toughest assignments Friday.

The Wildcats traveled to unbeaten Deer Park and fell 38-14.

Deer Park remained unbeaten, while Clear Creek dropped to 1-6.

The result sets up another all-League City matchup this week when Clear Falls and Clear Creek meet.

Next Up: Clear Falls vs. Clear Creek

Clear Falls will attempt to rebound Friday, October 23 against Clear Creek.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

For the Knights, the matchup represents an opportunity to regain momentum after the close loss to Clear Springs.

For Clear Creek, it is another opportunity to earn its first district victory of the season.

Clear Springs Turns Its Attention to Clear Brook

Clear Springs will continue district play against Clear Brook.

The Chargers enter that matchup with additional confidence after earning their first road win.

With the regular season moving into its final weeks, each remaining district game carries greater importance for teams attempting to position themselves for the postseason.

A Rivalry Worth Watching

Clear Springs and Clear Falls share more than a school district.

Players attend schools only miles apart, families often know one another and many of the athletes grew up competing in the same local youth sports programs.

That familiarity gives these League City matchups a different atmosphere from ordinary district games.

Friday's four-point result delivered exactly the type of close contest expected from two hometown programs entering with matching records.

This time, Clear Springs left Challenger Columbia Stadium with the win.
